Register Today

Date: June 8, 2024

Start Time: Organized walk will begin at 10:00 am

Location: Highbanks Metro Park, 9466 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, OH 43035

Description: Join fellow Ohio Chapter members and tree enthusiasts at Highbanks Metro Park where we will have a stroll through the woods and learn from each other. Highbanks is named for its massive 100-foot-high shale bluff towering over the Olentangy State Scenic River. Tributary streams cutting across the bluff have created several deep ravines in the eastern part of the 1,204-acre park. Ohio and Olentangy shales, often containing outstanding large concretions, are exposed on the bluff face and sides of the ravines. The park also boasts large specimens of oak and sycamore trees. We will discuss the forest types and pest and disease pressures present. We will also discuss the role arborists play in managing forested areas. Bring the entire family and invite friendsArrive a little early or stay a little late to enjoy all that the park has to offer. Bring footwear and clothing to get wet as we might end up off trail to see some special sites. The hike will be approximately 3+ miles.

Registration: The walk is FREE; however, registration is required in case of adverse weather and so that we know how many people plan to stay for lunch after the walk, compliments of Bartlett Tree Experts.
