Ohio Chapter ISA the leading force for certification, education, research,
and development for the arboricultural field within the State of Ohio.
Ohio Chapter ISA Mission Statement
Purpose: The purpose of the International Society of
Arboriculture's (ISA) Ohio Chapter is to foster a better understanding of plants
and their safe care through the education of professional arborists, and the
dissemination of information to prospective clients throughout the state.
Organized in 1942, the Ohio Chapter is one of 33 regional or state non-profit
chapters of ISA. Membership includes commercial, municipal, utility and
research arborists, as well as college students pursuing related degrees.
Objective: An enhanced Ohio arboricultural industry defined
by the growth in sales and size of member firms, increased federal, state and
private dollars allocated to research and education, a sustained, knowledgeable
and skilled workforce, and a greater appreciation of trees and plants by the general public.
Strategy: Through its Board of Directors, officers and standing
committees, the Ohio Chapter will (1) offer educational seminars for its members
and non-members alike. The Chapter will (2) promote networking opportunites
among its members through the publication of the Buckeye Arborist newsletter
and yearly meetings. (Networking opportunities will be facilitated between public
and private organizations that have arboricultural needs and Chapter members
which can service those needs.) Through statewide programs, such as public
relations and arborist certification, the Chapter will (3) enhance the professional
prestige of arboriculture.
The Chapter will work cooperatively with the International to promote the local and
global benefits of arboriculture, and assist state colleges and universities with the
recruitment, education and placement of students within the arboricultural profession.
